There was a Kurdish gentleman on 23andMe who was P311+, but V3 chip didn't capture P312 position. So we finally have another Kurdish gentleman from the same region who belongs to Alan tribe kit #E22089 (http://corduene.blogspot.nl/2016/03/kurdish-tribes-y-dna-haplogroups.html) tested with Y37 STR who belongs to R1b-P311* (P312-, U106-, CTS4528-).

Here's SNP pack results

The kit #276935 from Ossetia project is P312- and might be a candidate for this same common ancestor despite having some GD between them. It's no coincidence that the Alans came from the steppe region just north of modern Ossetia.

There were several Alanic waves to Kurdistan area. Modern day Kordestan province in Iran, used to called Erdelan (Land of Alans). One of the protagonist's name in the Mem ū Zīn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mem_and_Zin) of Kurdish classical love story from 17th century is Mem the Alan.

The P311* Kurdish gentlemen is from the area marked 135 in the map below.

The other gentleman from the Alan Tribe belongs to R1a-YP5664 which is much more common than the P311* line in Kurds.

Nice find. Any chance he will test further? There is a R1b-L51 xP312 xU106 SNP Pack for testing some branches between P311 and CTS4528. Of course, an NGS test would be best for building the tree.
The R1b-M269 (P312- U106-) Phylogenetic Tree was just updated and is worth a look.

I was pointed to this thread by Serdar, a member of our S1194 project at FTDNA.

My replay to him re this person was ...
"Being L151 and not P312/U106/CTS4528 is very interesting. He could be L151=>A8053 or could be L151=>S1194=>A8039"

I see someone has already said the same thing.

I will check out what other tests might help clarify this line.

Ah, so you are still alive.

I wondered what happened to you.

I told him I would help out (testing) but I needed at least another guy, a distant cousin or something. He could be a new subclade. He's working on it.
