So I just transferred my 23andme data (version 3) over to DNA.LAND and it varied quite a bit from my previous AncestryDNA transfer. I'm assuming this 23andme transfer is more accurate than my Ancestry transfer was because it has more snps tested (991,624) and IIRC AncestryDNA is in the 600,000-700,000 range.

Onto my question: I have been assigned 2.4% Tubalar, which apparently comes from Central Russia. Normally I'd not pay attention to this, but I've been getting "Siberian" results on many Gedmatch tests, notably 1.2% for K13 and 1.06% for K15.

Eurogenes K13:
1 North_Atlantic 49.37
2 Baltic 22.82
3 West_Med 14.62
4 West_Asian 4.92
5 Amerindian 2.54
6 East_Med 2.49
7 Siberian 1.2
8 East_Asian 1.01
9 Oceanian 0.64
10 Red_Sea 0.38

Eurogenes K15:
1 Atlantic 32.46
2 North_Sea 30.18
3 Baltic 13.1
4 West_Med 9.24
5 Eastern_Euro 6
6 West_Asian 4.27
7 Amerindian 2.22
8 Siberian 1.06
9 Southeast_Asian 0.83
10 Oceanian 0.35
11 Red_Sea 0.3

Now with FTDNA 2.0 I have a category I didn't previously have, Siberian, albeit a trace region, I'm inclined to believe it.

So what is this "Siberia" that keeps popping up? did anyone else get this "Tubalar" on DNA.Land? is it reflecting some kind of ancient population, is it tied to my Native American? (I doubt this as my NA percentages on these tests are always very close to my paper trail percentage, but I'm not certain...) is it genuine Siberian ancestry or something else?

Any input is appreciated.

I just came across your post after googling Tubalar. Like you, I had it in my DNA Land results (1.4%). I don't believe I have Siberian in my GEDMatch results, though (I just checked Eurogenes K13 and K15, and nothing there).

My impression is this tech is still very nascent and it's hard to trust outlier or small percentage results. It would be cool, though, if I could trace ancestry to some groups I didn't know about before.

I did the My Heritage DNA test and got no mention of Tubalar.

Europe 93.3%
North and West Europe 86.1%
English 51.8%
Irish, Scottish, and Welsh 32.5%
Scandinavian 1.8%
South Europe 3.4%
Italian 2.1%
Iberian 1.3%
Ashkenazi Jewish 2.7%
East Europe 1.1%
Baltic 1.1%
Asia 4.4%
Central Asia 4.4%
Central America
2.3%

Uploaded my raw data to DNA land and got 2.5% Tubalar. Tubalar people number only about 2000.

West Eurasian 96%
Northwest European 73%
Southwestern European 15%
Central Asian 4%
Kalash 2.2%
Indo-Iranian 1.8%
South/Central European 2.9%
Ambiguous 1%
Tubalar 2.5%
Native American 1.7%

Quite a difference.

Europoid features dominating in Tubalar's look,Mongoloid features are expressed quite low. There are plenty of fair-haired and light-eyed people.Main Y-chromosome haplogroup among them is R1a1-about 50%

I guess it is kind of East Steppe admixture from Kurd calcs.
