Is it a tendency to follow celebrities or just the human inquisitiveness to know what other people are doing? Or is it a form of escapism, reading about the rich and famous and day dreaming that perhaps, one day, we could live their lives?

I'd bet money that when the shit stained peasants or serfs watched the nobility trot by in their finery as they worked in the fields, they too went ooo, ahhh, or gossiped about who was sleeping with who, or traded anecdotes, or closed their eyes for a few minutes and imagined it was them up on the magnificent chargers or in the fancy Noble Carriages
