Hi all,

I am currently testing with LivingDNA. I know FtDna, Yseq etc are way better. However for curiosities sake. Which of the 2 tests give a more specific Y result?

Regards

Living DNA gives a more detailed analysis

Living DNA tests 22,500 Ydna SNPs whilst Geno 2.0 only tests about 20,000

LDNA haven't released any raw data yet so we don't know how many Y SNPs actually work off the chip. Chromo2 ended up with around 14k working.

If you are US based don't forget Geno 2 means Helix and for the moment no raw data either although I did see them commenting on a forum that they plan to offer downloads in due course, which would contradict their entire business plan from what I could make out.

Old Geno 2.0 (pre-Helix) got my dad and me to R-S4281 (between DF88 and R-S4268) I did mine first and iirc it initially said DF88 on mine, but they updated.
LivingDNA got my dad to DF19.

I tested with the old GENO 2.0 NG last summer by FTDNA and with Living DNA in NOV 2016. Both gave me Y R-L20

For mitochondrial DNA, GENO gave me H1b1 and Living DNA gave me H1b .

It's not the best comparison really as there were a lot of advances between Geno 2 (mark 1) and Chromo2. For the one M222 result I've seen so far it was better than Geno 2 but not as refined as Chromo2.

Hmm. So it appears for the most part LivingDNA, but in some cases more specific for 2.0. I will wait to see where LDNA place me before I decide to test with another. Thank you all for the answers.

I bit the bullet and ordered Geno 2.0 (I'm assuming I won't be getting the helix version because I'm in Canada) but I have living DNA, so if I get my results in a timely manner I'll post a comparison. I should note that many reviews of Geno 2.0 are quite bad, I bought it because I'm intrigued by it and I have a DNA test problem:)

That's awesome, thank you. :). Yea I heard some pretty bad reviews as well. Yet some have said their Y testing is good so I figured I would see what the case was. I'm more concerned just finding the clan. Couldn't care much about current gen as we know where we have been for the last 250 to 300 years.
