View Full Version : DNA Circles gone....

05-06-2017, 10:36 AM
I went onto Ancestry today and I went from 16 or so DNA circles to none. Anyone else experiencing this or know if it may be due to something they are working on with updating the version of it on their end or something? Thanks.

Same here. In fact, I went from 20 to none. The only thing I can figure is that they're doing some sort of update.

EDIT: I don't remember how many circles my wife and daughter had, but theirs are gone, too.

Mine are gone too. It invites me to "join."

In a little over 15 minutes, their support line should be opened for today. I'm planning on giving them a call. If I find out anything, I'll post here again.

I've never been in a circle so maybe this will change...

My circles, all 17 of them, are gone, as well. Hopefully, it's just a temporary glitch.

On hold. Hopefully answer coming soon.

EDIT: All right, the word I got is that the web site had been down earlier -- my impression was that it was for "maintenance". Apparently, the circles are just not back up yet.

They're back! At least in my case they're back.

Sorry to sound dumb but what you need to get a Circle?

I think at least two or three Ancestry DNA matches who share an ancestor with you.

In addition to what rms3 said, the members of a Circle also have to have public trees which include the ancestor. However, if you don't, you could possibly still get a "New Ancestor Discovery".

According to Ancestry,

These are potential new ancestors or relatives who are not already in your family tree.

I have 13 of these, and I don't think any of them are ancestors. Most of them are related to me, but one or two may merely be spouses of relatives.
