View Full Version : Question about segment sizes and their age?

This is mostly in reference to this paper (Botigue et al., 2013): http://www.pnas.org/content/110/29/11791.abstract

They state that they limit their study to segment sizes of over 1.5 cM. However, they don't estimate an age of introgression based on the segment sizes, but only on the basis of ADMIXTURE components, and ended up with very recent and improbable dates. So I wondered if anyone can give me a rough idea of how old segments of 1.5 cM could be, and, more importantly, are likely to be. I know the process is essentially random and chance-based and I also understand that there's admixture LD in addition to standard LD, but I can't find any basic guidelines anywhere online.
