View Full Version : Is V32 in Arabia ancient or recent?

I had always assumed V32 in Arabia was mostly from recent interactions between the Horn and the Arabian peninsula but I have been looking through various results,sites/projects and I have noticed that Yemen and Oman don't completely lack this lineage but they don't carry as much of it compared to their northern neighbors (i.e. Saudi Arabia,Kuwait and Qatar)....Why is that so?

If it's recent how did it disperse within Arabia? Since I personally doubt it is ancient since many of the locals who have V32 are from much younger subclades like E-BY8125

I would like to hear some input from those who are knowledgeable on this topic.

So far there is no sub-clade overlap between African and non-African V32. As you can see here (https://www.yfull.com/tree/E-V32/), it looks like E-V32 reached South Arabia from the North, not through Bab el-Mandeb. The African-non-African dichotomy appeared approximately 5300 years ago, most likely in Egypt. From this region, V32 dispersed northeastwards and southwards, but currently I am not entirely sure about the cultural affiliation of the populations who spread it.

What we know so far all Somali and even Bantu Kenyan sample tested downstream of V32 are Y28701-. All except 1 Middle East proper samples tested downstream of V32 are Z813-. However, there is a real mix between the North African V32's. Egyptian and Sudanese are split 50/50 between Z813 and Y28701 (reaffirming V32 originated somewhere there), and 1 Libyan is Z813, although I believe he is part Somali, just not sure whether that is the paternal line or not.

If the current trend continues, I would guess V32 split up in ancient times with some going East and some going South, unless a lot of Y28701 turns up in Ethiopia or Eritrea.

Z813 itself might have split it up somewhere in Ethiopia or Eritrea since there is no continuity between Somali V32 and those further South.

They just added a sample on yfull from the red sea region of Sudan. The sample is labelled E-FGC14388* which is a sub branch of Y17749.

Still quite a few unresolved V32's at FTDNA.

Qatar, Sudan and Egypt Z813*
Iraq, Yemen, Saudi, Egypt x2 Y17750*

Although I assume most of these Y17750* will end up being BY7950 (Found in Sudan)

Both Z813/Y17750 fall under the same branch of CTS10314 while the BY8125 is a direct sub-branch of V32.

From the results I seen (excluding the Horn):

Z813 Qatar (probably foreign),Sudan,Egypt, 1 Libyan and Saudi x2 (one of them had the last name Al Hebash and both shared the same str results)

Y17750 Saudis (from major clans),Iraq,Yemen,Jordan,Egypt and Sudan (BY7950)

BY8125 1 Eastern Saudi,2 Kuwaitis and 1 Egyptian

The Saudi BY8125 is a match of my brother with a genetic distance of 1 although my bro only tested 12 markers
