Just got my mtFull Sequence results from Family Tree DNA. My mtDNA Haplogroup was resolved to M5a'd

Anyone else have M5a'd and / or any idea what part of India this originated / can be found?

I was just tested and found I am also m5a1b.
It's origin is from India, more specifically of Romani decent.

Uploaded my FTDNA FASTA file to YFull and they assigned me M5d1. They also found one match (to an academic sample FJ383557.1 who appears to have been from Madhya Pradesh).

My father's mtDNA is M5a1a. I would like to know more about this lineage specifically, as information on it is relatively sparse and it is rare in our ethnic group (both points do not apply to my/my mother's mtDNA though).

I've ordered a Dante Labs kit for my father, as it's his birthday today. £130 for a 30x WGS kit is brilliant!

When his results arrive, I'll get him on the YFull YTree and MTree, so we can find out what his mtDNA novels for M5a1a are :)

It will be interesting to get him on the YTree so me and him can have a subclade all to ourselves XD

My Maternal grandfather's mtdna is M5a . He is from Kerala .
23andme showed him to be just M5a . I have confirmed before that he is negative for M5a1 and M5a2 . By looking at yfull mttree it seems he is negative for other subclades as well . So still at M5a*

My father received his Dante Labs results today. 23andMe told me he's M5a1a, and looking at his mtDNA sequence, he's actually pre-M5a1a. To explain what I mean, M5a1a is currently defined by the following mutations: G185A, T334C, G9064A and G11016A. My father has the T334C, G9064A and G11016A mutations but lacks the G185A mutation, so his sample should split the M5a1a tree when I upload it to YFull and when they finally get around to updating their MTree. Here are his novels: 152C, 8290A and 8581A. I'm planning on analysing the M5a1/M5a1a samples from the YFull MTree. Unfortunately, there aren't many samples on there so I don't have my hopes up. If anyone could point me in the direction of more M5a1/M5a1a samples then that would be great, although I will also look myself.

Still M5a* or found any deeper subclade?
