Very strange feeling watching the TV and knowing you are distantly related to the man who was blamed for the execution of Mary Queen of Scots and various others. ( estimated shared paternal ancestor around 1300AD )
William Cecil, described as the most powerful person in England after the Queen and possibly her only real friend. Ruthless and cunning, or a loyal protector of the Queen and Realm? Depends on your point of view I suppose.
