My brother Frank Grealish got the results of the m222 snp pack which shows him positive of DF104, DF105, DF109 and S658. Can one but a test for any of these sub clades from family tree dna? He has been tested up to str67.

Yes. Looks like DF105 and DF109 are on the same level below S658 and DF104, so you want to have y-dna relatives test for one or both of them.

Just go to the myFTDNA pages in question and click on Upgrade in the upper right. On the next screen scroll down and click on Advanced Tests in the lower left. In the little Test Type box on the left, choose SNP from the drop down menu. Next, type DF109 (or DF105) in the Find box on the right and click Find. DF109 (or DF105) will come up for $39. Click on Add and then complete the fields to order the test.

Do you mean the test is fully complete and he was negative for all lower level SNPs? The ones you mention are quite high up the tree although it is possible (but unlucky) to be negative for all below.

Ignore the STRs, sub-branches of M222 are extremely hard to predict that way.

Thanks for information. I have requested a dna kit form YSEQ for a third cousin and as my brother Frank is positive of df105 and df109 I picked the R1b-DF49 (including M222) North West Irish Panel. They seem to have snp's further downstream than the m222snp pack of FTDNA. So I am hoping that it will bring us further downstream. What do you think?
Thanks again from this newbie,
Maura

The YSEQ DF49/M222 panel is extremely good, no guarantees of course. Good luck with it.
