Some of those matches are pretty beefy, like Laver from Great Britain, Keough from Australia, and Crocker from Canada. All of them are pretty respectable, IMHO.

I am not sure how much to trust these. For example the Israel match.

I don't know, but a few of my outside-the-USA matches are pretty substantial. I was surprised because most of my lines have been in North America a long long time. Okay, finding out I have a couple of sizable Canadian matches is not all that shocking.

My bet matches where a 'from' is given. The site does appear to be very USA centric with, for me, 236 matches for 'USA'.

I don't have many matches on MyHeritage, but I do have 4 from Great Britain.

The first two are linked and seem to have a lot of Scandinavia, no English, some Irish/Scottish/Welsh.

I would not be surprised if a relative of my Swedish ancestors went to the UK at some point. For what it's worth, I have some Swedish matches on FTDNA -- Swedes must test more than I would have thought or else my family over there is just into it. (Or more likely it's just the most recent immigrant in my family so the only place I'm getting identifiable results from a non mt or Y.)

I have 230 matches and dozens are from the U.S. Does it mean that I have many relatives there ? Not at all. MyHeritage is based in the U.S. and have more clients from America than from Eastern Europe.

That depends on the quality of the matches. If they are matching you beyond the IBS level, then they are in fact relatives of yours. Over the years there has been a lot of immigration to the US from Eastern Europe.

Outside of close family, I have 14 matches:
Canada 4 - (all four have clear, recent (not farther back than 1950s) Latvian family origins though)
Sweden 2
USA 5 (one has very slight Baltic, some Eastern European, lot NW European background; one has almost entirely NW European background; one has extreme Baltic background; one has a lot of Scandinavian and a bit of Balkan and Eastern European non-Baltic and a ton of NW European; one has a lot of Eastern European non-Baltic and a lot of NW European background)
Lithuania 1
Germany 1
Latvia 1

for my mom (a Geno 2.0 NG to FTDNA to MyHeritage transfer), outside of close family, she has 8 matches:
USA 5 - (one has clear, recent Latvian family origin though; one has clear recent Polish and Lithuanian origins though; one has almost all Colonial and UK background; one has mixed Scandinavian/Eastern European non-Baltic/Balkan/Western European/Oceanian ancestry; one has mixed Balkan/Southern European/Western European background)
Latvia 1
Lithuania 1
Russia 1

for my dad (" "), outside of close family, he has 31 matches:
Latvia 3
Russia 1
USA 21 (one has mixed German/Ukrainian/Polish background; one has a ton of UK and a ton of Balkan; etc. too many to type out)
Sweden 1
Australia 2 (but with very clear, recent Latvian ancestry)
Germany 1
Norway 1
Netherlands 1

we are all mostly Latvian

interestingly, on other tests, my mom has more and somewhat closer matches than my dad (23 and FTDNA) but here my dad has way more matches

interestingly I have a few close matches that my dad misses here but has on other sites and some other various strange things along those lines

Could one of the mods or admins move this thread over to the new MyHeritage subforum, please?

Thanks!
