View Full Version : What do we suspect is L48's origin? TMRCA?

L48 is the big brother of U106 but I don't think he is that old. Has anyone done TMRCA estimates on U106? Interclades of L48 and his upstream peers under Z381 and/or Z18 ?

The U106 Project is working on developing TMRCAs for this family, but are struggling somewhat with the technical difficulties.

For example, our current calculations have the interclade ages for Z301, L48 and Z9 coming out "backwards" with Z301 being 89+/-20 generations, its major subclade L48 being 95+/-22 generations and its major subclade Z9 being 98+/-24 generations.

Obviously a subclade cannot be older than its parent clade (and the Standard Deviation is more than high enough for them allow them to cascade properly).

In either case, it is fairly clear there was a fairly quick succession of SNPs from U106 to Z381 to Z301 to L48 to Z9.
