Hi,
I'd just like to chime in with my first topic here about my mtDNA, which is a new subclade of V with five extra mutations. I took FTDNA's fullsequence test and gave my results to both Ian Logan and Genbank to confirm this - I only have four "close" (however, at least 1000+ years ago at genetic distance 2 and 3) matches with people with British Isles ancestry. My direct maternal line traces back to Germany, and probably NW Germany near Bremen. One of my matches on the V-group on FTDNA is grouped into the "V group 31 suggested new subclade," and that group of three people seems to be exclusively German, British, and Norwegian. I also find it interesting that my specific mtDNA is genetically closer to the British samples than the German or the Norwegian ones.
I want to see when and if any ancient groups fall into far rarer subclades of V like this, since I don't think I've seen any just yet. Hopefully, phylotree will include this group in their next update, since there are now three samples of this group on Genbank.
