Hi, I've just received the results of the DNA Living's Test and the MtDNA is H with subclade "H5a1c1a". Can you help me to understand something about this MtDNA? Origin ecc?
I'm Italian, I live near Verona (Veneto).
Thank's a lot.

Eupedia shows a nice map with a north Italy hotspot for H5 https://www.eupedia.com/europe/Haplogroup_H_mtDNA.shtml
This map of your fellow H5a1c1a clade from the ftdna project shows https://www.familytreedna.com/public/mtDNA_H5?iframe=mtmap shows just 3 people 2UK and one Denmark.
I have to admit it does not add up to a lot of information does it?

I usually recommend two websites that have been very helpful.
One closed down early this year and maybe the other depended on it, because that has been redeveloped in an unhelpful way.
Wikipedia can often be helpful with DNA, but the H5 monograph does not contain any references after 2010, despite 3 or 4 major relevant papers at least involving H5 in part.
So it does not look as if (apart from the updated tree itself) anyone is paying much attention to the science.

Did LivingDNA offer any assistance?
If not, I can still refer you to some academic papers, but parts can take some work to read, although major dates and charts are easy and probably all you need.

Saetro,

I just received my results back from FTDNA and I am also H5a1c1a. As well, I can find very little information about this and would very much like to read all I can. I would greatly appreciate links to the publications you mention, as I am totally confused about why this subclade seems to have so little information out there.

Thank you for your time and help.

Respectfully,

Bobb
