My dad was Portuguese. DNA land gave me 0% SW European? Is this a v5 chip issue?
It gave me 14% Baltic (which I can understand being in Portuguese and my dad was EV13), but it also over estimated my NW European.

Is this a v5 issue?

Genealogical ancestry:
1/2 Portuguese
1/4 Norwegian
1/8 English
1/8 German (potentially some Jewish bc of surname spelling).

DnaLand:

64% NW European
17% Ashkenazi
14% Baltic
2.2 ambiguous
1.5% Finnish
1.3% Hadza

* Not a single drop of SW European? Why?

23andme: unphased
23.4% Iberian
15.4% French German
13% Scandinavian
9.9% British/Irish
2.8 Eastern European
1.6% Italian
< .1% Ashkenazi
21.2% broadly NW European
8.3% Southern European
4.2% broadly European
.2% West African

Thank you!

I seem to have the opposite issue. Iím half French Canadian and DNA Land gave me 31% Southwestern Europe and 23andMe gave me 0.8% Iberian.
My kit was v4.

Iím not sure what you mean by is there an issue with the v5 chip? Are you saying the raw data you uploaded to DNA Land was your v5 raw data? Your 23andMe scores seem pretty reasonable to me based on your paper trail. I think DNA Land is misreading part of your Iberian as Ashkenazi.

Got the same issue.

My Genealogical ancestry:
37.5 % North Italian
12.5% North Swedish/Sami
50% Swedish.

On DNA.land I got 29% Balkan and 2,7% South west European.
rest Finnish and Scandinavian.

Hello! Whereabouts in Portugal was you father from? Afaik E-V13 is not too common around here

I found a similar issue with my wife's kit today re: Italian results showing up as Balkan. It's notable, since yours is Northern Italian, while my wife's dad is 100% Sicilian.

Genealogy:
50% Central/NW European (Mom)
50% Sicilian (Dad)

DNA.Land:
53% Balkan
14% SW European (including 11% Sardinian)
28% NW European
5% random/scattered

I'd just assume that it's interpreting her Sicilian ancestry as Balkan, but then where does the 11% Sardinian value come from?

The most exotic line on her mother's tree is someone from Czech Republic, I think, and then French Huguenot. I can't imagine her mom has any Sardinian heritage.

Very confusing.

V5 shares only 20% of SNPs so it probably won't do too well if you upload to places expecting SNPs more like what V4 had

Very confusing.

Yes. The funny thing is that i dont even come up as south European at 23andme.
Then you check gedmatch and get results very different. It's hard to know what to think is correct.

v13 could be the suvei or vizigoth remmenats they stop in balkan
so they can pick it up if some dacian could have join them ...

The Gedmatch calculators seem pointless to me.

Yes it is not too common. They were from Madeira. So far my genealogy research goes to early 1700s in Santo Antonio.

Thanks that’s exactly what I thought was going on.

i think its a V5 chip issue as I got weird DNA.Land results from that upload vs the AncestryDNA upload
