For those interested, YFull’s new tree is out.

This is of special interest to me, since I'd tested positive for YP619, but negative for YP444. These were both shown at the level of R-YP444, but clearly I could not be in R-YP444. So I was still being shown in R-L1029.

Now, R-YP444 is shown as a subclade of R-YP619, and for the moment I'm the sole person listed as R-YP619*.

Hello geebee,

I know how you feel. I’ve been especially waiting for this one because the branch I was in, was split into three different subclades. I also wanted to see how they were going to handle the new VCF samples, when they were matched with older Bam file members. In my case, they dated the subclade by only using my numbers. So there will be a slight adjustment when my match submits his Bam file. Fortunately, I know how many Novel Variants he has, so I can do the calculations myself.

I haven't been able to submit my BAM file, since FTDNA is currently not making them available. I believe they have plans to again offer the file at some point, but they haven't been specific as to when.

From what I remember they were saying they’d be released in the late spring.

Let’s hope they’re still on schedule.

Roughly two weeks before the release of this new tree, I submitted my BAM file (hg19), got my results back, and was added to an existing branch.

But (1) it's still not showing my kit in the age calculation for the existing branch and (2) a sub-branch (recognized by FTDNA and The Big Tree) was not created for me and another kit on the existing branch. As for the latter issue, the YBrowser in our YFull project shows this defining SNP for me and the other kit. It starts with "Y" so I think it's even a YFull-named SNP.

I kind of got my hopes up that I'd see this information on the newest version. Is it possible that YFull had already started its "batch processing" for the new tree at the time I submitted my BAM file?

I believe the last sample to make it in before they began processing was in the YF12750 range. If your number is after that, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for the next update. I’ll try and double check the number for you because they listed it on their Facebook page a few weeks ago but their cut off point was in that area.

Edit: Here’s what they said on their Facebook page; We have used information from samples until YF012752

Unfortunately it still has me listed as P312. I guess the people who have already tested BY20464+ and BY20474+ with FTDNA and the individual listed on Ytree with me have not submitted their data to YFull. It's a bit disappointing as I was hoping that this could have helped confirm another branch on the tree below P312. I guess it's just a question of being patient and keeping my fingers crossed for the future. :)

Well, if you know who they are, you can always ask them if they’re interested in submitting their results to YFull. I’ve asked a few and fortunately some of my former Big Y matches - they’re no longer matches under the new criteria - did. Unfortunately, if they have access to Alex’s Big Tree, there’s less incentive to use a service like YFull. Although, there does seem to be a decent amount of P312s over there.

Good luck!

Interesting, my sample # YF12633 was not used - it has many SNP in common with YF03273.

I would send them an email and ask them why your sample wasn’t upgraded.

Does anyone know where the new ERS samples come from like this: ERS1789481?

See https://yfull.com/tree/R-Y20253/

Thanks!

Hello Ravai,

Coincidentally, that question was asked on YFull’s Facebook page and the answer was, The samples are from:

The genetic variation in the R1a clade among the Ashkenazi Levites’ Y chromosome

Approximately 300,000 men around the globe self-identify as Ashkenazi Levites, of whom two thirds were previously shown to descend from a single male. The paucity of whole Y-chromosome sequences precluded conclusive identification of this ancestor’s age, geographic origin and migration patterns. Here, we report the variation of 486 Y-chromosomes within the Ashkenazi and non-Ashkenazi Levite R1a clade, other Ashkenazi Jewish paternal lineages, as well as non-Levite Jewish and non-Jewish R1a samples. Cumulatively, the emerging profile is of a Middle Eastern ancestor, self-affiliating as Levite, and carrying the highly resolved R1a-Y2619 lineage, which was likely a minor haplogroup among the Hebrews. A star-like phylogeny, coalescing similarly to other Ashkenazi paternal lineages, ~1,743 ybp, suggests it to be one of the Ashkenazi paternal founders; to have expanded as part of the overall Ashkenazi demographic expansion, without special relation to the Levite affiliation; and to have subsequently spread to non-Ashkenazi Levites.

Thanks, but my haplogroup is R1b> P312> U152> L2

All these ERS are Ashkenazi Levites? In any case, regardless of the religion they had, what place is the ERS that I indicated in my query? Can you know?

Regards

The phylogeny of haplogroup R1b-M269 shows the presence of this haplogroup in various Jewish communities. The Ashkenazi samples clustered primarily with European R1b samples or created recently forming clusters. This pattern might be compatible with repeated introgression of non-Jewish European R1b Y chromosomes into the Ashkenazi Jewish population

Ok, ERS1789481 is GRC15560111, Druze religion. https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/data/view/ERS1789481

YF08653: It's from Lebanon. It is also of the same religion, I do not know if they are the same person.

Thanks!!!!

Hello Ravai,

I happen to stumble on this while looking at another question on YFull’s Facebook Page. If you look at the footnotes on the YFull page you referenced, the sources are listed at the bottom of the page.

https://yfull.com/tree/R-Y20253/

https://yfull.com/sardinians/

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23908240

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25926048

So I stand corrected.

I’m afraid you’ll have to ask them about it or wait until they update their tree again.

I'm I1-Z17926 (I1c).

My new haplogroup is I1 > Z17954 > Z17925 (I1b2) > Z17926.
