Hello, gentlemen! I have been delinquent for a few years due to work pressures. Now want to catch up on my paternal DNA (using my brother's dna results for our Oliver paternal line from County Derry, Irenland (as it was when the family left), and my male cousins for Gilroy and McHale.
I have had my brother's standard dna expanded to, what is it now, 111 markers? He is th8ug on ysearch.
The last SNP we did was L21+. Shows how old this is. I want to do more SNP testing but not sure what way to go to jump back in.
Good to see that the same crew is still around. I really am hoping we can figure things out with our Oliver family if I dedicate some time to this, and looking forward to catching up on the state of things DNA.

Hello -- sorry I can't help you much on the L21 front but welcome back to the DNA world, and to Anthrogenica.
Incidentally I have a Gilroy ancestor from County Cavan, Ireland, so I am interested to see what yDNA group yours turn out to be.

My Gilroy is also R1b1a2a1a1b4.....L21+, as are the McHales. I like consistency! Nothing to help me track things down.

There are off modal values shared with the L744, L746 group in the DF41 project

Rich or Dubhthach would be best to advice on the possibility of being DF41+ though

Thank you. I will take a look at that. I was reading up and see the DF41 is on the Geno2, so I will give some thought to going that route, especially if Rich, etal think that makes sense.
Kaybee, it is good to see you back in the hobby. Wish I could help with L21 subclades, but I took a long time off too, and am not really back up to speed. Quite a few L21 experts here though.

DF41 is included in the Geno 2.0 but not as DF41. Instead, it appears as CTS2501, which for now is regarded as equivalent to DF41.

What is the best way to catch up on snps right now? FTDNA/Geno2 Chromo2?

Well, big Y is pending on one brother and Geno 2 on the other, just for fun. Y-dna 111 is a 100% match. Not a single mutation.
