View Full Version : Weird flip

I was assigned Mtdna haplogroup J1c2b by 23andMe, and I ran the raw data through James Lick's subclade predictor. Interestingly, I do not have a complete match to any haplogroup clade because there's a flip at the 15452 marker. There's supposed to be an A, and I have a T. And apparently it's far up the tree, as the first to have the mutation is R2'JT super-group. Is this strange? I have all the other J1c2b markers. I'm just wondering if anyone else has something like this, and also what would cause it.

Back mutations happen, maybe something like that happened with you. Are you classified as J1c2b, with the flip as a private/extra mutation?

Yeah, 23andMe, Wegene, and Lick all have me as J1c2b. I guess a mutation could happen, given that my great-great-grandmother, Nellie Ryan from County Waterford, had twelve children, of which half were daughters, and my great-grandmother Alice had ten daughters-no sons, just daughters. But my grandmother only had one daughter, my mother.
