I collect data files for calculating pairwise IBS-values (identity by state):
http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/jphakkin/IBS.pdf

I updated the table, but the document update is still waiting:
http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/jphakkin/IBS.xlsx

Taul1 = IBS-values between the FF-files (39)
Taul2 = IBS-values between the RF-->FF-files (3)
Taul3 = Distances for SplitsTree4-program (= 1 - X)

Population cores (only values over 0.7640 are marked):
http://s14.postimage.org/hkmzvu4ql/IBS_v_est_ympyr_t_2.jpg (http://postimage.org/image/hkmzvu4ql/)

- People who have no such high values with anybody but their close relatives, are not included in the picture.
- Blue core are East Europeans (so far Balts and Slavs), all the other cores are Finnish.

Thanks... Although I didn't get your word play... What is the form "Finnatic" connected to? :)

sorry, I forget somtimes how international these forums are

'finnatic' is a close word play on the english word 'fanatic', which came to mind when you said in your title its a 'slightly finnocentric'
..in english, it would be considered a mildly amusing pun or word play by me...well, hopefully
:)

Yes, that works fine now, but my night brain didn't get it... I couldn't remember any words ending -nnatic, but there was one -n too much. :) Both vowels sound quite similar when reduced, and quantity in English is not so clear, so they remind each other well.

P.S. I would have got it immediately with only one -n, but then it would have changed the vowel length (i --> [ai]?), wouldn't it?

Now there are 40 Family Finder + 3 converted Relative Finder members, and the groups begin to form. This figure is based on inter-group IBS-medians:

http://s15.postimage.org/m9rw41psn/IBS_40_3_v_est_verkosto.jpg (http://postimage.org/image/m9rw41psn/)

It is so beautiful: Western Tavastian groups share most with West-South Europeans, and Suur-Kyrö shares most with Baltic group.

Additionally we can distinguish inland and north (partially overlapping).

Tättärää!

The file is now updated: there are 47 samples, of which 32 Finns.

http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/jphakkin/IBS.xlsx

As a result we have the following populations:

A) Balto-Slavic population:
Baltic (Tomas, Giedrius)
Half-Ukrainian (Constantine, Elena)
Russian (Albina, ElenaCh)

B ) West Finnish population
1. West coast main group
1a (Pauli, Helena, Kirmu)
1b (PekkaA, Levanki, Loimo's mom)
6. Great Kyrö main group
6a (Ojaniemenkylä, Tapio, Erkki)
6b (Pettersisko, Saikkala)

C) Tavastian population and main group
3a (Marko, Seppo, Äijälä)
3b (Esko, Jani, Karoisä)
3c (Riikka, Karoäiti)

D) Population of the rest of Finland
4. East-north main group
4a (Kalifi, Jaska, Loimo, Laurukainen)
4b (Loimo's grandfather)
5. West-north main group (Marjukka, Bertarido, PekkaP)
2. Mid-Finnish main group (Senyho, Marja, Jola, Knaapi)

EDIT: Now it is possible to compare original Relative Finder -files to each other! The results with the converted (RF --> FF type) were very commensurate with the results gained with the Family Finder -files.

OK, updated and mostly rewritten and at this point short IBS-document can be found in the URL:
http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/jphakkin/IBS.pdf

There are now 62 Family Finder samples; Relative Finder samples are at the moment too few to analyze (8).

Remember to refresh the browser, if it still shows the older version!

Hei Jaska,

Not sure if you're interested, but let me know your thoughts.

I have data from 2 FF kits [and others I can press on] and 5 RF kits of Finnish and another 1 or 2 RF kits of partial Finnish.

Hi,
yes, I'm interested! The more we get samples, the more accurate the clustering will become, and regional differences show up.
