LivingDNA results from Angeln / northernmost Germany

Subsequently I present my father's results who hails from the Angeln peninsula in South Schleswig (South Jutland from the Danish perspective), more exactly from Northern Angeln (mainly Grundhof and surrounding parishes). Genealogic records show that 95% of his ancestors in 1750 lived there within a 10 mile radius, so the data should be representative of the original inhabitants of the area which was depopulated in the Migration Age and resettled by Danish/Jutish Vikings in the 9th/10th century. Language change from Angeldanish to Low German took place in the first half of the 19th century.

What strikes me is the Western shift in the Gedmatch admixture analysis.

Interesting. I was intrigued by the somewhat high distances, as well as the western tilt, so compared the results to the average North German and Dane (order=your dad, N German, Danish):

Main differences are your dad has higher North Atlantic (probably why the western tilt) and lower West Med.

The North Atlantic is really high -- closest I see on the spreadsheet is West Scottish with 53%, then Irish with 52%.

Same is true with the Atlantic and EUtest (my dad gets 29%, but he's mostly English and Welsh). On the spreadsheet your dad is closest to the Atlantic numbers of Cornish (29%) and Irish (30%), so again probably a western tilt.

Do you have any known English Irish or Scottish ancestors?

I wondered that as well. It doesn't really fit any modern population.
Some speculation:
Given that high North_Atlantic scores seem to be a Celtic and Germanic trait and both share the same origin (Unetice culture / Bell Beaker horizon in Central Europe) it could be the marker of Proto-Celto-Germanic ancestry and in this specific region by chance there was less substrate influence. (?)
Are there any other (Southern) Jutish examples to compare? Sundeved/Als which historically shared the same dialect should be closest.

Btw MtDNA haplogroup is H7b. Y-DNA doesn't apply as the patrilinear line can be traced back to some Protestant exile from German Northern Bohemia that came into Danish Military Service in the early 18th century (it's E-V13 CTS-5856*). Otherwise there are next to no ancestors outside Angeln, mainly all were peasants that clung to their land.

Interesting to see the weighting of Southeast England within the Living DNA GB results, given the Jutish settlement there.

Thank you for sharing. I have ancestry from Husum and I was curious how "Scandinavian" this line was as some tests place my father very high in Germanic values and others high in Scandinavian.

Probably I'm missing something, but can you upload your LDNA results to OG GEDMatch? I uploaded mine to Genesis, assuming it wouldn't even work on the other side. My kit number was AAxxxxxxx, whereas you list a custom kit number here.

The Gedmatch one-to-many search doesn't seem to accept the LDNA data file as it "didn't pass quality control" quoting a lack of SNPs (LDNA should have 650k but tested are only ca. 200k below the threshold of 260k) but the calculators still work.

The number of the transferred kit on Genesis is BC5836791.

Balkan 2.1%

For Northwestern Europe outliers such as Orkney and Iceland are used instead of more middle-of-the-road North Dutch or Danish, so part of Germanic ancestry ends up as Finnish which Dna.Land has a known issue with overrepresenting as well as Balkan which could reflect some ENF or steppe strain.
