Hello!
I'm looking for people and information with the mtdna Haplogroup J2B1! I'm interested in everything what has to do with this subcloud.

I would love to get info as well.
I tested my father with FTDNA and got J2B1

I got many matches in Italy so interested to know the origin.

Is your dad the guy on the top of that Ytree mtdna J2b1*? There are a few Middle Eastern samples there besides; the thing about the asterisk branches is that they tend to be far flung; J1c* is spread all over Europe while my J1c2b appears restricted to the British Isles and Denmark (mine is Irish), for example. According to Eupedia's mtdna J page, J2b1 is concentrated in the Near East; its J2b1e and J2b1f appear to be strongly Levantine in origin.

My missus is mtDNA J2b1, her family is from Central Portugal, near northern Extremadura in Spain (not too far from Plasencia). The haplogroup has been found in neolithic samples in Spain

Jameslick analysis says:

Yes that's my father's. I just uploaded to yfull yesterday.

Does the asterisk mean he's waiting to be assigned or he belongs to a branch yet to be mapped/discovered.

J2b1, direct maternal line is SE English afaik. Seems mainly Italians on mtree (was also found within the recent Roman study); defo an uncommon mtdna here in NW Europe. I've analysed my British matches on 23andme, haven't found another person with this mtdna.

Not impossible but it's more likely you're in the other branches and not J2b1f.
J2b1f is mostly Near Eastern, found among Armenians from Turkey, Syrian, Lebanese and ~60% of Jews from the eastern Caucasus.
