View Full Version : Eurogenes K13 and K15 - Populations approximation question

I noticed that my Iberian and Italian primary and secondary populations in the K13 and K15 are shifted slightly differently. The K13 gives me mainly Cataluna, Valencia and North Italian. However, the K15 gives me Portuguese, Galicia, North Italian and Sardinian. I'm trying to understand why there would be such a shift between these tests. Why are my genetic distances so much bigger in the K15? Does that mean that for me the K13 is more accurate?

K15 mixed mode examples:


4 75.1% West_German + 24.9% Portuguese @ 5.49
5 72.9% West_German + 27.1% Spanish_Galicia @ 5.5


10 54.8% West_Norwegian + 45.2% North_Italian @ 5.7

14 55.4% Spanish_Galicia + 44.6% West_Norwegian @ 5.84
15 52.5% Portuguese + 47.5% West_Norwegian @ 5.85


Using 2 populations approximation:

1 50% Portuguese +50% West_Norwegian @ 6.683990

Using 4 populations approximation:

1 Sardinian + West_German + West_Norwegian + West_Norwegian @ 5.570018


If I'm reading this correctly 25% Sardinian + 25% West German is equal to 50% Portuguese?


K13 mixed mode:
