First post, so hello everybody!
My girlfriend and myself just both took a DNA-test from Geno 2.0 and I am quite surprised by the results.
These are my results, my father was Austrian and my mother is from Switzerland:
46% Scandinavia
30% Southern Europe
15% British Isles
6% Jewish Diaspora
3% Asia Minor
My girlfriend's parents are both from Switzerland and these are her results:
74% Western/Central Europe
16% Scandinavia
4% Asia Minor
4% Southern Europe
I am curious because I always thought Swiss and Austrian people are more or less the same. But as you can see I have zero Western/Central Europe and she has zero British Isles on the other hand, so I wonder if these regional categories are precise. Second issue I have is that all my great-grandparents came from rural parts of Austria/Switzerland and were deeply Catholic, I am not aware of any Jewish ancestors but still have 6% Ashkenazi in me.
Anyone with historical insight able to explain this? Thanks in advance.
