Hi all
I'm currently R-fgc 3222. Comparing my STRs on the internet and awaiting y-500 results.
I have some extra values. :confused:

DYS459 = 9-9-9 compared to only 2 values/integers
DYS464 = 15-15-15-16-17-17 compared to only 4 values/integers.
CDY = 37-38-38 compared to only 2 values/integers

Does anyone out there share these? Opinions on them.:help:

It’s not uncommon to have extra values on these multi-copy markers. These three are actually linked together, they all appear on the same palindromic arm of the Y chromosome and can be affected by RecLOHs (https://isogg.org/wiki/RecLOH). I believe when they all show extra markers it’s considered to all have been caused by one mutation event and genetic distance is only increased by 1 (for all three, not 1 per marker).

It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at how these are treated but I believe your original ancestral markers would be considered to be 459=9-9, 464=15-16-17-17, and CDY=37-38, and then one RecLOH would have created ALL the additional markers. I’m fuzzy on 464 mostly, it’s special in that it’s reported in a reordered low-to-high fashion so the 2 17s are not the extra markers, they’re just the higher values, and your ancestral value should be either 15-16-17-17 or 15-15-16-17.
