This is what my test came back on Family Tree DNA. Can anyone speculate on what test I should take next in determining my ancestral path. All I can surmise is that I'm R1b-U106 and R-L48. Also, I have joined the R1b-U106 project, but I can't find it in the thousands of kits uploaded. Thanks.

Hmm take your kit number and search the U106 DNA project for it using the find function - it might take a while since that loads so slowly anymore... I don't often look at the chart anymore and if I do I don't look at the classic chart as that always times out.

A Big Y or equivalent test (NGS) is eventually what you want to do and once that is done all you have to do is wait for someone to match you, which might take a while or not (you might get lucky and already be in a well filled out group under L48 etc)... I was an early Big Y tester and haven't regretted it since now I have to do is wait for people to match me - that should eventually happen as more continental testers test (I am pretty sure based on paper trails of the families with my surname in Pennsylvania that show up in my extended cousin matches - it's most likely German - either Rhineland or Saxony).
