It would be good to see if amongst us there is someone who carries a haplotype similar to that of the farmer or hunter gatherer based on the following SNPs found in 23andme. These are the ones that I have found that are shared between 23andme and the data published, if you find some other ones feel free to post them.

Judging by uniparental markers and origin place I used to think I was Neolitic enough to farm even at sleep and herd at snowy weather.. But it is wrong.. Only 3 matches with the Stuttgart dude..

She is the only one in my family that carries the CG for rs16891982, everyone else, my Dad, his parents and myself are GG for that SNP. Yet she isn't darker skin wise than me, though she does tan better than I do, or my dad does, as we both burn red in the sun. Also CT at rs12203592 is interesting, since it says that the TT is predominant in Irish, and that it is related to freckling and red hair, she doesn't have red hair, quite dark brown, but she does have freckles.

I'm wondering if we can use this info to see whether there was a migration into South Asia by our ancestors at certain periods of time. Thoughts?!

The one that pops up is:
rs16891982
Loschbour (C/C)
Stuttgart (C/C)

Both of the above are ancestral but current Europeans are derived. So the derived state could reflect a recent connection between Europe and South Asia.

The one that pops up is:
rs16891982
Loschbour (C/C)
Stuttgart (C/C)

Both of the above are ancestral but current Europeans are derived. So the derived state could reflect a recent connection between Europe and South Asia.

My results exactly match yours:

rs1426654 AA - Stuttgart
rs16891982 CG - 50% Stuttgart or 50% Loschbour
rs1042602 CA - Stuttgart
rs12203592 CC - Stuttgart
rs12896399 GT - Stuttgart x Loschbour

SNPedia shows the following regarding rs16891982:

(C;C) 0 generally non-European, but if European, 7x more likely to have black hair
(C;G) 2 if European, 7x more likely to have black hair
(G;G) 0 Generally European; Light skin; Possibly an increased risk of melanoma

I guess this does correlate with the members with European ancestry that have posted as most are GG.

Could you please elaborate on derived.. Also, we are both GT on rs12896399, whereas the majority who posted are GG, except for a S. Asian member who is TT. Do you think there is any significance to this?

For non-Africans the ancestral state can usually be ascertained from Africans. A change from that ancestral state is considered derived. Europeans have almost reached fixation level for the derived state GG at rs16891982.
But as Africans also have derived states at many loci, we use the chimpanzee and sometimes other primates as reference. Nevertheless, there is always some inference involved.
