She was apparently hit by a sword in the forehead when she was 18 or 19. The wound was serious but possibly not fatal because it shows signs of healing. After studying the objects with which she was buried, researchers concluded that the woman was likely a warrior or a general.

"Our results caution against sweeping interpretations based on … preconceptions," the researchers wrote in their 2017 paper. "Our results … suggest that [Viking] women, indeed, were able to be full members of male dominated spheres."

Now that is ironic lol
