Having Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry?
Hi! This my first post so I hope I am not breaking rules!

I was just wondering if anyone with trained eye see ashkenazi jewish in my family. My last name is Wunder which google told me is A.Jewish. My great grandfather moved to Brazil from Germany and it isn't easy to get dna kit here.

It has been in our family mind for a long time.

Hi please review the forum rules. https://anthrogenica.com/faq.php

We do not play a guessing game based on looks. Have you or any of your family done a DNA test? Have you researched records?

Forum rules do not allow for multiple threads to be made on the same topic.

She did say that it's hard for her to get a DNA test done. Records are a good recommendation.

Lots of Brazilians have taken the MyHeritage test in Brazil. Seems to be pretty accessible. Not sure about the other tests.

Hi Wunder349,

I restored your text here, minus the pictures. I had already deleted your other post as the duplicate.

I know that Family Tree DNA sells kits to Brazil. They are even helpful at making sure the test is delivered. I have seen them help out with getting a kit to Russia when there was a problem with delivery.

Thank you everyone. It is unfortunately a monetary problem (common in brazil), but I will look into these tests and hopefully we can get one as a family. I appreciate everything.

You're welcome. You can always check with the admin of this project to see if they have any fundraising options for tests. https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/brasil/about/background

I get it. I think it costs about 1/4 of the monthly minimum wage in Brazil, so I'm sure it's not easy for everyone. But if it's really important for you to find out, it's probably the easiest and quickest way. Research can be very time consuming and not necessarily cheap.

If your grandfather was fully Jewish, it will almost definitely show in the test.

Good luck!

I understand money can be a problem. But there is nothing to discuss if you have no test results.

So, you are talkig about your parental great grandfather? Father of your paternal granfather, direct male line ancestor?
If you are first of all interested about his ancestry you should consider making test for your father or even grandfather, but not for yourself (if they are alive and if they would agree).
First of all they are genetically closer to your great grandfather. And also, they share Y-chromosome with your great-grandfather, who moved from Germany. This may give additional important information.
