My son is half chinese indonesian. His mother is indonesian of chinese ancestry but one maternal great great grandmother was a pure native of Indonesia. How to detect the indonesian in my son? What calculator to use? I tried with Eurogenes K36 and he scores 1.66 of Malayan. Is that indonesian? What is the best calculator to use in this kind of situations? Aside from South China (my wife's chinese ancestry are from Xiamen, South China), my son also scores Indo-Chinese and Siberian. What does it mean?

Thank you

Try this (https://anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?19575-origin-of-SE-asians&p=643015#post643015) model perhaps?

Indonesian scores mostly Malay in K36, percentages of Indo-Chinese and Oceanian are possible too. If I am not mistaken, the Chinese in Indonesia often came from Southern China which may also contain Indo-Chinese and a little bit Malay. Such a mixture might render it difficult to discern the Indonesian from the Chinese. Some information of the genetic background in this area can be found here (https://science.sciencemag.org/content/326/5959/1541) and here (https://science.sciencemag.org/content/sci/326/5959/1541/F1.large.jpg).

Many South Chinese (mostly Cantonese speakers from Guangdong but also some Fujian Han) K36 samples I've seen score a little bit of Malayan- maybe up to 1%, with outliers scoring up to 2%. Someone posted Eurogenes K36 screenshots of Cantonese, Guangdong, Minnan, and Hoklo results on the Korean site naver a few years ago.

Indo-Chinese is a Vietnamese and Dai-like component that's commonly found among Han Chinese at low-to-medium levels. I score ~9% Indo-Chinese and ~3% Siberian, but 0% Malayan.
