View Full Version : West African Y-DNA, North African Ancestry
Hi. I have done my DNA test, and I find the results difficult to understand, in that I have no trace of sub-Saharan African origins in my autosomal test, as you can see below, but my Y-DNA is E-M2, which is believed to have originated from west Africa.
Can someone help me understand my results?
Thanks,

From which part of Morocco are you ? And do you have your g25 coordinates ?

My father is from the eastern Middle Atlas, near Sefrou, and my mother is from the Anti-Atlas, near Agadir.
I have no G25 coordinates, I don't know how to obtain them.

to obtain them you have to send 12dollars to
[email protected] via paypal and send an email to the same address asking for your coordinate but for the moment the store is closed you would have to wait until July.
Do you have your K15, K13, K36 and MDLP K27 results from gedmatch ?

Hi, I've seen 2 Moroccans who belong to M2, one of them is from your zone, he only did a superficial test.
the other one did a deep test, and he belongs to this clade.

You should join the Morocco DNA project in FTDNA, you may find some match of you there.

You should order a deep test in order to get a better understanding. Some E-M2 in North Africa might not be recent introductions from West Africa but could date back to green Sahara bidirectional gene flows.
Also order your G25 coordinates.

There is a possibility that E-M2 is North African in origin.

There is a possibility that E-M2 is North African in origin.
Many people tend to associate E-M2 with the slave trade, but from the few samples we've got, it's clear that some clades are clearly related to Green Sahara period, and by the way it's very possible that M2 is of North African origins.
Thank you.
