View Full Version : How much pre-Greek ancestry do South Italians have?

I've seen some posts from people saying they're basically Greek transplants due to the genetic similarity between the two, but my guess is that the pre-Greek people of South Italy probably wouldn't have been that genetically distant to Greeks.

So are there any estimates to how much pre-Greek ancestry is present in South Italy?

Any thoughts? I often see people comparing the Greek and post-Greek ancestry of South Italians, never really any calculations on their pre-Greek ancestry (Messapian, Samnite, Sikel, etc.). Curious if anyone here has any idea?
