I didn't find a thread about Czech genetics. I'm particularly interested in yDNA results from Czechia and regional genetic differences. From the results I have seen so far, the yDNA between the different Czech regions is fairly variable. I found nothing about the autosomal variation, but my guess is the same is true if comparing the different parts of Bohemia and Moravia. Anyone having something to contribute on the topic?

That's the source I had in mind when talking about the yDNA variation. Would be great to compare this or other yDNA distributions with the autosomal profile.

The comparison with the neighbouring countries is interesting and both sources pretty much agree (roughly) on the percentages for the total population:

There is a group of six from Moravia in the FTDNA R-DF99 and Subclades Project who have tested R1b-P312>DF99>FGC16982>S16136>BY15507 in the Big Y, with another who has that pending. They have three different Czech surnames, and two of them are not closely related to the others, though all presumably have an ancient connection. One of them has a close 66/67 STR match to someone in Poland with a Polish surname. Their origin is something of a mystery to me. The BY15507 subclade is also found in Germany, Switzerland and England.

Interesting article on Czech genetics and origins:

“The Czech population is predominantly descended from the prehistoric population, before the arrival of the Slavs. We are biologically a majority pre-Slav population.
“The pictures we have from the DNA of the old and present Central European population shows that we are in fact majority Central Europeans and Czechs with a slightly larger affinity to Western Europe rather than Eastern Europe.”

According to the archaeogenetics expert, this closeness to Western European populations is the result of the spread of peoples from the so-called Bell Beaker culture into Central Europe during the Neolithic period roughly four thousand years ago.

Within the country there are also noticeable regional divides in ancestry. Czechs from South-West Bohemia are closer to the Bavarian population, whereas their compatriots from Eastern Bohemia are closer to Poles, Slovaks and Moravians.

Furthermore, Dr. Beneš says it is important to distinguish between the indigenous lowland populations and those from Sudeten mountain border areas.

The latter was radically changed in the aftermath of World War II. However, even the Sudeten Germans, who originally lived in this area, only settled during the Middle Ages. The origins of the Czech lowlands population are much older.

This correlates well with some areas with a greater dominance of R1a within the Czech Republic, which are supposed to be more Slavic shifted, while other areas have more Celtic, Germanic and even earlier origins of the local haplogroup variation. Especially R1a:R1b ratios are telling, but not exclusively so.

I did a small experiment on vahaduo, just to check proportions for Central Europeans and added populations with a worse fit just for the control (e.g. French score zero Slavic, Swedish zero Roman). Bylany might not be ideal for later Celts, but its probably the best sample available for now (?) and if it fits somewhere, it might be fitting for Czechs the best. If anyone else has a more solid representation of the Czech genetic components, especially the pre-Slavic and pre-Germanic mostly Celtic inhabitants, you are welcomed. To me, even with this simple trial, it looks like the G25 Czech sample is rather from the Eastern to Central parts of the country with increased Slavic proportions, otherwise the quoted archaeologist would be wrong, what I don't think:
