I suspect this is going to be quite a useful tool. I made a rough ghost for my grandmother, as I wanted to see if she inherited more/less Polynesian that what would be expected for someone with her ancestry. I roughly worked out her percentages, however there is a large variance between Irish and Scottish between both profiles, but the Polynesian is quite similar, so I'm not overly fussed, as English, Scottish and Welsh are somewhat interchangeable.

As a fun play around, I went and roughly created my third great grandmother, who on paper is 25% Maori. Ideally I would have a real person with similar ancestry to compare to. This is as close as I'm probably going to get to having her DNA available (I don't expect to be able to create a Lazarus kit anytime soon).

I went one step further and created my great grandfather and second great grandmother. I ran all 4 generations (excluding me) to see how Maori differs. This isn't the greatest model, but its a quick and dirty one and gives a rough estimate.

How do you make ghost samples for your ancestors? I have been trying to make one for my great-grandfather (I have the DNA for his wife and his daughter) but it won't let me input either of their DNA. Only the DNA of reference populations.

This is a User Interface shortcoming that we'll address in the upcoming release. In the meantime, assuming that you have added the coordinates as personal samples, you can select them by first setting the 'Individual Samples' switch to 'On'. That switch will be part of the Ghost creation UI soon. Hopefully that will make the process much more intuitive.
