Anyone have any ideas where the Banjani tribe originated? Is it possible for them to be of Albanian admixture? They lived near Niksic which was quite close to other Albanian settlements.

Along the direct paternal line the Banjani are definitely not of Albanian origins. They are pretty much all Y-DNA haplogroup N2

Use the search section at the top of the page. They are under the Old Herzegovina section I think.

Not all Banjani are N2. The Petrovic - Njegos dynasty for example seem to have been E-A18833. Some families from Tupane are E-L241 as well (possibly PH2180).

Majority however seem to be N-P189.2.

Where did this particular N hg come from...

Anyone have any substantial evidence or ideas?

The Drekalovići from Kuči seem to be of Albanian origins originally.

Why in Wikipedia they are connected to Serbs?
“Sir Arthur Evans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Evans) noted that the Banjani were mentioned as Serbs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbs) in Herzegovina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herzegovina) and Montenegro of the Middle Ages in Ragusan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ragusa) reports and Serbian chrysobulls (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Bull).”
Are they Serbs or Albanians? They can’t be both, right?

The Drekalovići from are from the Kuči tribe not Banjani.

This is also the case for the bulk of the Old Kuči, not only Drekalovići, considering that they too are E-BY165837 (https://www.yfull.com/tree/E-BY165837/). And so of the same paternal origin as the Drekalovići brotherhood.

So then both the Old Kuči and New Kuči belong to the same subclade and paternal line...That is interesting.
