I first heard about this from MacUalraig here (https://anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?22665-FamilyTreeDNA-merging-with-pharmacogenetic-company-myDNA&p=736500&viewfull=1#post736500).

Seems to me it could become a good replacement for Ysearch if enough people take advantage of it.

I uploaded my Y-DNA STRs and my mtDNA full sequence data earlier today.

Thought I would post this in case others have not heard of it who might want to give it a try.

The site is confusing at best. I see no options to upload the data for those services. Am I a dumb?

Click on Kits at the top, then on Create New Kit.

Create a kit for your Y-DNA STRs and a separate kit for your mtDNA data.

There's a FAQ/Help section at the top of the page you can click on.

You're welcome. I miss Ysearch, too. It was fun and very useful.

I'm not sure who else besides FTDNA offers Y-DNA STRs (YSeq?), but hopefully there are some other sources out there. Back in the old days there were several.

Thanks. So only STRs no SNPs for Y line? Do I upload Bam file?

Yeah, thus far just STRs, but it does ask for your earliest known ancestor's haplogroup, which gives you the chance to list your ancestor's terminal SNP using the shorthand.

No, you can't upload the BAM file, just STRs.

Too much to fill in.

It's a simple upload.

No mind reading function yet.

I have not yet tried to see how much one can play with mitoYDNA the way it was possible to make use of Ysearch, but I'm currently suffering with two broken wrists, the right one encased in a large cast. That's keeping me from doing much of anything extra with the computer keyboard, because it hurts.

I was pretty adept at getting a lot out of Ysearch and used it in the old days to do a lot of really successful recruiting for SNP testing and my projects.

It would be nice if that became possible again.

^ I hope your wrists get better soon . I managed to upload my Y & MT DNA. No matches so far.

Just used the TMRCA for the only same surname match I have. It's 37-2

17 0.020695 0.917
18 0.016864 0.934
19 0.013658 0.947
20 0.011001 0.958

At 31 years per generation that's 1337-1430.

Unfortunately nothing works when I try to add an extension. I was able to upload and create a kit but I can't do anything with it because every time I click to add the extension I just get redirected to a Google ad. Theres no option when I view the kit to search for matches. I assume the extension is required for this. Seems bugged for me.

I'm not sure what is causing that. I had no problems with the site.

I don't have any matches there yet either.

I'm hoping it catches on eventually (and while I'm still alive).

As the earliest recorded Gatty in the UK according to the IGI was a John Gatty c1568 St Sampson,Cornwall. I think I might be tilting at genealogical windmills.

I'm not sure what the problem is there.

Maybe someone more adept with computers than I am can offer some advice.
