The last reconstruction looks so much like someone I know. They all look life-like.

Very well done and absolutely factual. The Egyptians were a West Eurasian people related to Near-Easterners and Europeans, they had nothing to do with Sub-Saharan Africans.

I do recall reading that the Ancient Egyptians are closer to the modern populations of the Levant and Anatolia than modern Egyptians but I'm not sure if that is accurate.

I do recall reading that the Ancient Egyptians are closer to the modern populations of the Levant and Anatolia than modern Egyptians but I'm not sure if that is accurate.

Based on the analysis of three mummies they concluded that they were closer to bronze age levantines (who themselves were less northern shifted than modern levantines) but in their conclusion they themselves admitted 3 mummies isn't enough to draw any big conclusion regarding ancient egyptians.
