There are almost 1000 samples from the mtDNA of the Saami. Every study mainly sticks in their own samples, but I collected them here:
http://www.elisanet.fi/alkupera/SaameMTDNA.pdf

In Finnish, but mutations, haplogroups and trees are understandable.

Very nice thank you for this Jaska. I have an interest in this since my father is U5b1b1a with a maternal line origin in Finland.

Interesting! If the test is full mtDNA, there could be some further mutations which could tell more precisely about the origin.

Nice work, Jaska. Have you included mtDNA results from FTDNA? The oldest known female ancestor in one of my lines is in the Sami DNA project at FTDNA with mtDNA-haplogroup U5b1b1a.

In the projects the coding region mutations are not visible, so I didn't include this data.
Also the origin population of the samples is often not clear.

He has done the mtDNA full sequence test at FTDNA. Here are his mutations if you are interested.

U5b1b1a1a1

OK, this lineage is found in Finns and Swedes but not anymore from Saamis (its mutation 16301 is seen even in HVR-I level). But one step earlier U5b1b1a1a was found in Middle Iron Age Levšnluhta.
