Much higher West Eurasian admixture than Pinos.

Interestingly, it seems that Guam has no Papuan-like admixture, while academic Micronesian samples have it. Maybe southern and south-eastern parts of Micronesia have Papuan-like admixture, while northern and north-western parts do not?

The Indigenous Chamorros are Austronesians with their closest genetic relatives being Indigenous Filipinos. Modern Guamanians are admixed mostly with Filipinos, Spanish or other Euros, Chinese and some Japanese aside from other Polynesians, Micronesians.

Yes, it makes sense. The Chamorros from Guam (and Northern Mariana Islands) have no Papuan-like admix.

On the other hand, indigenous samples from the Federated States of Micronesia are ca. 26-29% Papuan-like.

Anecdotally, just within the past few weeks I've seen my first two examples of Guamanian autosomal results - one from a new forum member (https://anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?22695-Single-thread-for-G25-modelling-requests&p=797326#post797326) and another on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiKTuSlYfsE

I was surprised to see that the Iberian percentage was so much higher for them than for the average Filipino, but I guess it makes sense given Guam's small size and the demographic realities that probably came along with that. I wonder if that's true of the Guamanian population as a whole, though, or if that Iberian ancestry is unevenly distributed.

Yes many are admixed, but European admixture is unevenly distributed. The ones that I've found and included in my average (see the 1st post of this thread) are relatively unmixed. My Guam average is ca. 8% European (mostly Iberian) in K36 calculator.

BTW, they mixed also with Mestizos who came from Spanish colonies in America.

There are academic Micronesian samples? Are they in gedmatch or G25? Can you share some of them please?

Thanks for finding and sharing this video. Turns out this guy shows up as a match on Ancestry with my dad, projected 3rd-4th cousin.

Hopefully, an upcoming study to be released later this year sheds more light on the migrations throughout Micronesia. From the 9th International Symposium on Biomolecular Archaeology
June 1st – 4th 2021(Toulouse, FRANCE), here is the abstract of the study. https://imgur.com/a/8POVhEB

Do the Micronesian samples you have looked at have G25 coordinates?

There has been a new study with ancient and modern Guam DNA recently, IIRC.

Does anyone have the genotype data from this study, or a link to download it?

I believe it is "Genotypes of ancient individuals analyzed in Liu et al. Science 2022".

I'm not familiar with opening this kind of file though, I hope this points you in the right direction. I look forward to your input.

^^^ Unai & Latte Guam individuals are very similar to present-day Filipinos.

Are present-day Palau individuals from this study also available to download?:

I was able to find the G25 coordinates for Unai/Latte and Pohnpei samples. I'm not sure if the present-day samples from the study are available.

I searched for contemporary samples from the study, but couldn't find anything. But I think they are available. I will keep looking. When I find one, I'll write a post here then. Good luck everyone.
