Here is the updated tree for haplogroup H

Under the updated tree almost all previous F* now belong to H3 which seems more common among south indians .

The distribution of H1a1 shows it might have originated somewhere in north india as south indian samples belong to more derived clades .

There is also one Gambian H1a2 .wonder how it got there

We have one H-M82 family group in the Locke Surname Project. The family is Romany Decent from England. One colonial ancestor came over in the early 1700's. Descendants from 8 of the sons of that original ancestor have tested and they have also matched a test from another Locke who still lives in England. I am working on drumming up interest in those members (and other's) to chip in enough money to have a Big-Y test run on one of the members to get a feel for how the H tree shakes out. I'll let you know if it happens.
