NCSC warns of the Chinese government having interest in collecting genomic data

IMO we have to think about how to keep personal testing available (because demand obviously remains and will only grow), while making sure that the risk of sharing it with entities that have different morals remains low. In the future, some American firms might merge with Chinese ones, so that is something to think about for yourself. What can they do with your data when it is shared eventually? If it is autosomal files, not a lot, since it only contains 0,1% of all your genome and it is not specifically linked to your name or passport. Obviously, it can always be used to identify you personally, identify some genetic predispositions or affiliation with certain ethnic groups.
In any case, I repeat my advice to be careful with your data, of what ever sort. That means for example, do not just upload your data to every new free site you just heard about without thinking about what you want or expect from them.
