Thought it might be good to have a central location to make the community aware of newly available SNPs for U152.

Primers for these 2 SNPs below R1b>U152>L2>Z49 are designed and available at YSEQ.net.

S8183: Located below Z49* http://shop.yseq.net/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=S8183+&search_in_description=1&x=5&y=9

CTS9490: Located below Z142>Z150/Z12222 http://shop.yseq.net/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=cts9490&search_in_description=1&osCsid=f92beb262c8d6e739e6cd35d498df294&x=0&y=0

PS looking at the "what's new" section at YSEQ.net, Business is booming...109 new SNPs in the last 4 days!

I should note the SNPs I am ordering from YSEQ are for another type of study I am doing and really are not currently identified of any great value to U152 phylogeny, though if I ever do have a match downstream from R-L2 some might be also worth testing, if recommended by Rich R or Steve G.

S8183 is now available from YSeq. I am one of a group of men with a common surname who are Z49+, Z142- and DYS388=11. I've ordered S8183 and am hoping that will help us to refine our clan history.

One interesting result from my study of my own private SNPs using YSEQ Sanger sequencing was to check a couple of FGC BGI Private SNPs that were "**" or "about 40% likely genuine" that a YFull analysis of the same BAM file noted under their criteria.

One in the YFull Analysis had had three unambiguous positive reads and classified by YFull as "acceptable" and the other has two unambiguous positive reads and was classified as "unreliable."

Both were found to be positive by YSEQ Sanger sequencing.

Too small a sample to draw conclusions and is surely consistent with FGC's 40% reliability rating. I don't know if using YFull's criteria helps select which ** Private SNPs might be useful before any real use is found by matching another sample.

[Also, just to note the positive SNP in Sanger Sequencing that FGC ranked as ** and YFull classified as unreliable was in my FTDNA BigY BAM file, though had been excluded by the BED file. NGC Analysis of the BigY BAM file found it but classified it as ***. I did not get a YFull Analysis of my FTDNA BigY BAM file.]

I have started another study on my Private SNPs by arranging for FGC BGI sequencing of a distant Eaton cousin validated by 67 STR testing and fairly good paper trail back to common Eaton ancestor in the 1500's just a little short of the new ISOGG tree 500 year criteria. Paper trail is also supported by STR testing of multiple descendants of the two Eaton 1st cousin immigrants to New England in 1600s which separate our two lines though currently cannot differentiate the two.

Comparison of any matching ** and *** now "Family" SNPs should be revealing. I think I remember hearing about an earlier study like this but have not heard anything about it, recently.

Just received positive result for S8183 (FTDNA 240232; Anglo-Norman (Flemish?)-Irish ancestry. Placed Wish a SNP orders with YSeq for S12993, S8172, S20782.

S19861 is also available at YSEQ. I am positive for this SNP in Big-Y, so it could be of importance for U152. BritainsDNA couldn't provide me with more information about it and suggested I contact FTDNA about it. Unfortunately the person who submitted this SNP at YSEQ didn't provide more information.

I was just wondering if S12993 or S8172 were able to be sequenced at YSEQ. I only see S20782 available. My father is a recent addition to the S8183+ group.

Thanks!

I'm in this tiny branch of U152 with 1 other FTDNA person...U152>L2>Z49>Z142>Z150>FFC12378/79/80/81/82/83.

To my surprise I just noticed YSEQ has one of my terminal SNPs available for order: FGC12382 http://www.yseq.net/product_info.php?products_id=3086

I wonder if it was requested via the wish list or if it was the YSEQ staff's idea to add it.

Interesting.

Just got my YSEQ results back for a individual that is a close STR match, but I'm not sure how to interpret the results.

2813

He was tested for Z12222/S7402.

The ancestral Allele for Z12222/S7402 is A and the derived is G. YSEQ indicates A- (see above image)

If it said G+ I would think he's positive for Z12222/S7402, but A- has me unsure that if this means the same thing.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Edit: Got answer from YSEQ. The sample is negative for z12222. In this case A- is indicating he has the "A" ancestral value and is "-" negative for this SNP.

Another test junky rides again. I ordered it even though I am + at Yseq :)

Hope FTDNA show it as my terminal SNP. They don't show it in my S20550+ matches, it only shows U152+ :(

Anyone know anything about CTS7197? I am trying to find out if it is above or below R-S42. One of my close matches tested positive for this SNP on Big Y and I was wondering if I should have the test at YSEQ.

Thanks

YSEQ has lowered the price for single SNP tests by 50%! https://www.yseq.net

Every YSNP only $17.50 NOW!

"YSEQ has reached a new milestone with 10,000 single Y-SNPs in the catalog.
We thought that this is now the time to change the world of SNP testing and cut prices in half so that you are able to ramp up your number of participants that will be tested for your private SNP!

With more than 10,000 SNPs in the catalog (verified and ready for testing) YSEQ is now
THE BIGGEST PROVIDER OF INDIVIDUAL Y-SNP TESTING IN THE WORLD!

Compare by yourself:

Number of individual SNPs in the catalog (Feb 24, 2015):
YSEQ: 10254
Competitor F.: less than 7200

Time for delivery of results:
YSEQ: "We deliver more than 95% of our results within 5 weeks after the sample arrives back in the laboratory."
Competitor F: "The average time from our receiving your kit at our office until we post your results to your account is: Y-DNA: 6 to 8 weeks" (cited from their FAQ)

By the way, for private SNP testing it doesn't matter how big the database of the testing provider is, because you can easily compare a few hundred individuals in a spreadsheet by yourself when you focus just on your specific haplogroup. Ever tried to google for a SNP name? I always find what I need, so I don't really need another closed database...

Let the Spring Festival of SNPs begin!"

Is it customary for Yseg.net to notify you after they receive your sample? I sent a sample about three weeks ago and don't know if they received it. I e-mailed them, but didn't receive a response. I thought it might be because they are swamped because of the price reduction.

Thanks for any help
Ken

Just wished 17235357. I am unsure of its position with A9024 (14698033 at U152).
