I don't have much info about my mtDNA, other than what says on 23andme and its distribution map there:

Sadly there isn't enough focus on mtDNA so i can't find much information, like country averages. Additional info would be most welcome.

The distribution map is quite interesting. I wonder if there's an updated version in any recent studies.

I'm assuming the map's merely showing mtDNA J(/1)'s distribution, because J1c itself, per aDNA, seems quite European. From Ancestral Journeys' Ancient Eurasian DNA table (http://www.ancestraljourneys.org/ancientdna.shtml):

Culture ` Classification No.
Corded Ware(?) Germany, Switzerland J1c 2
Sintashta J1c1b1a 1
Bronze Age Germany J1c1b 1
Remodello Italy J1c1b 1
Bronze Age Spain J1c/J 3

Apparently the J1c1 haplogroup is very old, I have 6 additional mutations they are not on mtDNA Phylotree yet: 198T 7735G 8848C 12007A 16422C 16431A

7735G and 8848C will be probably new J1c1i haplogroup in the next release.

My maternal line comes from Carinthia, Austrian-Slovenian border.

Here are J1c1 results from Genbank

There is a J1c1 group at YFull if any J1c1 folks wish to join. As well as YFull kits, there are research samples from Genbank and Personal Genome Projects to compare to. In addition there are a few ancient samples: VK513 from Viking age Greenland, SB381B from early Neolithic Britain, YGS-B2 from early Iceland, R47 from Imperial Rome - hopefully many more to add in the future. The mtree for J1c1 is here https://www.yfull.com/mtree/J1c1/ - open access and you don't need to join to view the tree.

For folks who already have an account at YFull https://www.yfull.com/faq/what-are-benefits-joining-yfull-group-how-i-join/

Uploading to YFull is pretty simple - follow the instructions on their page. However, it needs to be a complete mtDNA sequence - such as FTDNA's Full Mitochondrial Sequence, YSEQ's mtComplete or a next generation sequencing test such as whole genome sequence or FGC's YElite. Partial sequences from chip tests such as those from 23andme, LivingDNA, National Geographic, etc. don't have enough detail and aren't accepted by YFull.
