Took the Y-Full test some time ago, but seemingly group T-BY62664 is extremely rare. Initially I undertook Y-DNA tests to determine where my ancestors lived before appearing in Ireland before c1700, but the tests only muddy the waters. I only have one person I relate to with the same group and he has his earliest ancestor in Ireland also. The indications however are that my ancestors arrived in Ireland well before the 1690’s which disproves my theory they arrived as part of the Williamite mercenaries in the 1690’s.

These designations are a real alphabet soup and obscure as well. Which is extra tough for T because we are rare enough in the first place.
I find I can't keep all 460,000 variants in my head, and some resources aren't searchable for variant designations from some naming entities.
Suggest you provide something upstream to give an idea of where in T you are.
There may be someone just one notch up who knows where they are but has never heard of your end SNP.
For example my upstream Y haplogroup line is T-M184>T-PH141>T-P322 and nobody knows my end SNP of T-FT374575, probably because it is unique.

Regarding Scottish and Irish.
There has been a lot of back and forth between the two over the centuries and millennia.
Friends have ancestors who probably came over from Ireland around 500 AD before going back to Ireland during the Plantation years of the early 1600s or even earlier as mercenaries on the Irish side. Then they returned to Scotland in the early 1800s.
One of my lines appears to have done something similar. I have a large number of aDNA matches, several with ALL of their lines moving to USA in 1600s from Ireland, so the Scottish Common Ancestors seem to have been born just before 1600.

You are likely part of the same basal branch of T-Z19971 as the other Scottish sample on Yfull which I found interesting.

The rest of T-Y16897 seems heavily Near Eastern with T-Y45591 being entirely Red Sea adjacent and the current T-Z19971 samples being mostly Ashkenazi (almost certainly Near Eastern in origin) plus various other Near Eastern populations.

Your branch seems fairly divergent which might indicate that its an old Neolithic survivor but the relatively young TMRCA for T-Y16897 as a whole makes it seem a bit less likely.

I think there is a Cyprus sample that is grouped with your branch in the FTDNA project which might explain the origin of the branch if they are tested deeper.

I have 2 origins for ( R850 ) from the Etruscan Rutuli tribe ( in Lazio region, italy) ...............ydna T1a1

1.....born in Crete ......a rich merchant, married a corsican woman and moved to Ardea ( Rutuli tribe )
