As a spin off of my Full Y, analysis of my mtDNA apparently displays haplogroup X1 (146C SNP) and more specific X1a (1604T, 14587 and other SNPs 14587G, 15654C if I am correct). On basis what I have read, the origin of this haplogroup lies in the Middle East (Levant) and/or Northern Africa and is rare in Western Europe. The number X1 members at the mt FTDNA group is also rather limited. Are any X1(a) members out there?

Welcome Mher! So we have a shared 'grand' mother, possibly in the Middle East area. Her daughters have spread out in many directions :)

I am X1a1! I have been searching for matches with 0 luck! I knew it was rare, but not this rare. Thank you to Mher for bring this page to my attention!

My earliest known maternal ancestor was Olene Olsdatter Sandved born 1814 in Sand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway.

Our Norwegian family has an oral history of being called "Black Norwegians" because we have dark hair, dark eyes and tan well, but not because of any known ancestry from North Africa or the Middle East. My mother's 23andMe results are 100% European with less than .01% Native American (lol, so small I don't know why they include it.)
