Percentage of CTS2501+ Results in Geno 2.0

Here's the part of my dad's Geno 2.0 dashboard that shows the percentage of Geno 2.0 test subjects who are positive for CTS2501. How many men have done the Geno 2.0 test?

0.4% CTS2501+ seems like a pretty substantial proportion, given that it is a percentage of the total number of Geno 2.0 participants and not just of L21 or even of R1b.

Anyone know how many men we're talking about here?

We estimate that >150,000 Geno tests have been processed based upon the counter on the page and where it was with Geno 1 test results. Of those 150K you can guess that maybe 60% are male???? Until Nat. Geo. ponies up some demographic data we just have to guess.

Being very cautiously conservative and guessing 50% of those tests included y-dna, with CTS2501 at 0.4% of the total, that makes about 300 (or more) R-CTS2501 men.

That's not bad, but I am wondering where they all are.

Obviously not all of them have transferred their results over to FTDNA, and they certainly have not joined either the L21 or the DF41 Project.

I wish we could get the word out to them.

One of reason's for putting "CTS2501" in the project title was hopefully to cover cases of people googling for it. Seems to have put it at top of my google search anyways which should hopefully help :)

That should help. I wish we could get hold of them, explain what their R-CTS2501 result means, and advise them to transfer their Geno 2.0 stuff over to FTDNA and join the right projects.

A guy over on the Facebook L21 page said he emailed Nat Geo, and they replied that they tested 600,000 people in 2013 for Geno 2.0.

If you guess that half of those tests included y-dna, at 0.4% of the total, at least about 1200 men should be R-CTS2501 as a result of Geno 2.0 testing.

That is definitely not a small number.

Okay. I was nosing around my dad's Geno 2.0 page and noticed that at the top right it says, "I am 1 of 678,632 participants."

His page also still says that the percentage of men with a CTS2501+ result is 0.4%.

If half of those 678,632 Geno 2.0 participants are male, then that means there should be about 1,357 CTS2501+ results among them.

We only have 139 members in the R-DF41 and Subclades Project.

Oh, man! That is pathetic! Where is everybody?
