Hi, I sent in my kit a week ago from today and they still haven't received it.How long is their "check-in process"? Should I just order a new one?

Here you can see that it may take up to one week to deliver the shipment in Houston: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction.action?tRef=fullpage&tLc=1&text28777=&tLabels=RR847701453CZ
This shipment was delivered to the lab on May 28, 2014, but was marked as received by Geno web site on June 3rd, again one week later.
Another example: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction.action?tRef=fullpage&tLc=1&text28777=&tLabels=RR847560132CZ
Again, one week at Houston post, delivered on August 27, 2014 but was marked as received by Geno web site on September 2nd, again one week later.

So don't worry.

Please make sure you hang on to your Geno 2.0 ID number, because they cannot retrieve your results and connect them to you without it, even if you send them your name, address, blood type or what-have-you.

When I had them send a kit to my old dad, I was not aware of how things worked. He tossed the packaging and all the paper work in the trash and just did the cheek scraping and mailed that part back in. Fortunately, I caught him in time for him to fish the ID out of his trash can. If I had waited a few more hours, it would have been gone for good and neither of us would have ever seen his results!

Once you have the ID and register it, everything is cool - just watch for that ID and don't lose it!

that's a good point rms2-i didn't throw mine away, but i had no clue I needed the stupid number in it and I practically had to trash the house searching for it

I had thought about checking to see if you could upgrade from Geno (1) to Geno 2, ie. could I get it for cheaper than a new participant. Can't get on because my id is so worn where I creased it to get it in my wallet. Anyway, I subsequently ordered FTDNA's Big-Y so I figure I'll end up with similar, if not more, SNP results.

They still haven't gotten it. Should I be legitimately concerned now?
