View Full Version : Where Do I Fit In Best

J Man

I am starting this thread to see where in the world I would best fit in genetically based on all of my autosomal DNA results to date. I will post my results from Doug McDonald's analysis, Dienekes K12b, Vadim Verenich's MDLP World-22 and a few of Polakos runs that are most useful for an admixed individual such as myself. I am looking to see which nationality or ethnic group in the world today that my results best match. It does not have to be a nationality or ethnicity that my own ancestors were part of. I am looking for the group I resemble the most based on my results.

First off my results from Dr. McDonald.

The computer gives, automatically

genome_Jackson_Devoni_Full_20120822172811.txt

Most likely fit is 48.5% (+- 11.9%) Europe (all Western Europe)

and 33.1% (+- 9.8%) Europe (all Northeast Europe)

which is 81.6% total Europe

and 18.4% (+- 3.4%) Mideast (various subcontinents)

The following are possible population sets and their fractions,

most likely at the top

English= 0.454 Finland= 0.361 Armenian= 0.186 or

Irish= 0.545 Finland= 0.267 Druze= 0.189 or

English= 0.506 Finland= 0.314 Georgian= 0.180 or

English= 0.475 Lithuani= 0.316 Turkish= 0.210 or

Irish= 0.576 Finland= 0.222 Armenian= 0.203 or

Irish= 0.624 Russian= 0.210 Druze= 0.165 or

English= 0.529 Russian= 0.338 Druze= 0.132 or

English= 0.429 Finland= 0.397 Druze= 0.173 or

English= 0.547 Russian= 0.310 Armenian= 0.143 or

Basque= 0.168 Lithuani= 0.575 Turkish= 0.258

but the way it works it canít use three European populations.

ASking it to do that gives

English 0.4667 Italian 0.2154 Finland 0.3179 or

English 0.6154 Tuscan 0.0676 Finland 0.3170 or

Irish 0.3208 Italian 0.3671 Finland 0.3120 or

Irish 0.4744 Tuscan 0.2198 Finland 0.3059

Which fits OK to what you expect.

Now onto Dienekes K12b results.

So where do I fit in best? Any thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated. :)

A single population? I would guess Czech, Slovak, or Hungarian.

Your results are consistently like mine but further north. I usually end up appearing as something from Swiss to Moldovan.

J Man

^Yes a single population. Sorry I should have been a bit clearer. Thank you for your thoughts. :)

Your McDonald results alone suggest something between southern English, Hungarian and Austrian. Triangulate those and you'll get a point around Germany, which fits with AJL's comment on you being slightly further north of his Swiss-Moldovan range.

It would be helpful if you provided your Gedmatch Oracle results. Raw ADMIXTURE values won't tell us very much!

^Ahhh a great idea Humata and thank you also for your thoughts. Here below are my GEDmatch oracle results for my results in my first post. It is to bad that Polako's Eurogenes analysis on GEDmatch do not have Oracle. Looking at my results below I think German may be a pretty good fit. :P

No problem at all J Man.

The Mixed Mode results are only really useful in corroborating the Single Population ones in this instance, as you're looking for the one population you match best.

By all indications, this is still somewhere around Germany. Individual German results pop up in both your Dodecad and MDLP top 10's and the Mixed Mode combinations seem to point in the same direction.

^So basically I am looking at somewhere around Germany/Central Europe. It actually makes sense when you think about my mixed European ancestry. :)
