Hi,

I tested with LivingDNA and my paternal Y-DNA is M1.

Any more info regarding this haplogroup?

Thanks.

Wow, that's rare; M is mainly Papuan if I remember correctly. Do they give any information on mutations? Or just "M1"?

Only M1. Not much info given. But I don't have any Papuan physical traits. More of Malay ethnicity.

Any where I can get more info?

A possible scenario could be through trade between eastern Indonesia and Malacca, especially between the 1500s and 1800s; another scenario is that you reprenent another rare line; to know more details you might trybthe BigY700 test, which gives a detailed haplogroup, but there is no guarantee that you get close matches since that part of Asia is undertested.

Hi there nice to meet you I am from Singapore too :) Interesting to see that there are Malays with Haplogroup M here in Singapore, it is really quite rare and has a higher frequency mainly in Papua New Guinea and Eastern Indonesia, it is likely your paternal lineage could have descended from that region.
