Spreadsheet of chr/SNP in kits, # of matching GEDmatch kits (>3cM) & breakdown of those by company:
3606
A=Ancestry.com, F=FamilyTreeDNA.com, M=23andme.com

I am disappointed with my aunt's 23andme kit. It tested less SNPs for every chromosome, and matches less kits even with the thresholds (possibly) down to 3cM. My mom's kit matches very good. Of her matches a higher percentage belong to 23andme than my aunt who tested with them. My uncle and my kit seem to have a similar breakdown of GEDmatch matches by testing company.

PS: I got confirmation on a recent 23andme order while I was on GEDmatch compiling this. Argg...

I'm sure other 23andme kits have had more SNPs tested, I wonder if I can have her retested on a V3 chip. According to Felix I, they were more compatible with Ancestry's & FTDNA's chips.

They no longer have the V3 chip, only V4. I have read on FTDNA forum that Ann Turner who sometimes posts here had thought that the V4 could be compatible. She and Felix had been discussing it on that site. http://forums.familytreedna.com/showthread.php?t=36611&page=2

Thanks. I've only seen Felix's thoughts on the matter, so I'll check out Ann's thoughts too.

I think I'm going to upload her kit as a Build 37. I have been using Build 36 for all my kit uploads. Then I can run the diagnostic again and see if her results change.

UPDATE: You cannot select a Build type with 23andme (I guess they use Build 37).

To explore SNP density variance between kits, I ran the utility on as broad a spectrum of kits as I had id's for. These are the results.

A=Ancestry, F=FamilyTreeDNA, M=23andme
I remind the reader the counts are from GEDmatch tokenization, not what the companies actually tested. Also, I had far less Ancestry kits to go by so their positions may not be representative of their true average.
dp :-)

PS: no attempt was made to cluster kits by company. The results did that by themselves when I sorted by count, due IMO to specific chips being used.

Dear Vettor,

(L-R) Green bars are 23andme, red ones are Ancestry, yellow ones are FamilyTreeDNA, and then the bars goes back to green (23andme).

Try: http://www.anthrogenica.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3712&d=1422986541

At least then you can download it, and zoom in on your end.

Here is a link to Diagnostics related to archaic kits on GEDmatch that date from 7-8000 years ago:

There are not enough to warrant a chart like the one I gave for kits of 75 living persons.
