Ethnicity - New Zealander (English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Croatian, Jewish, Polish and Maori). New Zealand is hard because its has had massive migration over 100 years so New Zealander probably isn't the correct term. Anglo-Slavic is probably more accurate.

I don't know much about Geno 2.0 but that's quite a bit of Neanderthal variation between both companies.

Dear Táltos,
I agree. The only 23andme kit I manage is for my aunt. Besides admixture runs use autosomes, not allosomes?

Yes, and from what I've seen of other people's results who tested with both, it's very common for them to disagree by a fair bit on the percentage. I'm not sure which to believe but figure they should probably both be taken with a mine of salt.

23andMe is useless for J1-P58 subclad, I was also J1-P58 there, then I took 12 STRs test at FTDNA and they couldn't even tell me if I was J1 or J2, and to find out that they had to test me for particular SNPs. Then I got 37 STRs test with them, which again was basically useless. Geno 2.0 after that which put me in Z1853 subclad and established a different line which was previously unknown, because Z1853 subclad was formed around 8000 ybp and have TMRCA around 6000 Ybp, again it tells you nothing about the last 6000 yrs. 67 STRs test after that again proven only useless.

Finding 23andMe, Geno 2.0 and FTDNA basically much useless, I have now moved to Full Genomes WGS test and am waiting for results, this is a test that will give me everything that I will ever need. You should seek advice from well informed members here, so that you don't end uo spending your money on useless tests. Also keep in mind to test for STRs and SNPs at half the price at YSEQ.

Fascinating, I suggest you test with FTDNA and join the J1 project. Welcome to the tribe! ;)

PS: It seems there was considerable Phoenician influence in Paphos, it's possible your paternal lineage originally came from the Levant.

I definitely wouldn't rule Levantine heritage out. Don't quote me on this, but I think Greek Cypriots are a mixture of Greeks from the mainland and a smaller population of indigenous pre-Hellenic farmers. Phoenician influence is also definitely possible.

I've heard of FTDNA, I'll have to explore my options.

Have you transferred your 23andMe data to Gedmatch.com yet? It is all free and they have many tools there. I think you can still transfer your 23andMe data for free to FTDNA too.

I've done Gedmatch, FTDNA won't take my 23andme though because its from 2015, not V3 which I guess was 2011-2013.

There are a few ways to go about it. It all depends what is important for you, aDNA you already have from your 23andMe test and you can check your health SNPs and all else here https://www.promethease.com/ondemandlicense

For your yDNA lineage, STRs and mtDNA lineage you can get them here https://www.fullgenomes.com/, Y Elite 2.0 if you have the money, also WGS [Whole Genome Sequencing] it will give you everything and this test you can get done at 2x, 4x, 10x and 30x level for different prices, also check this thread http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?742-Full-Y-Chromosome-Sequencing-Phase-III-Pilot/page109,

At YSEQ you can test for SNPs and STRs for half the price. http://www.yseq.net/, 37 STRs for $85 and each SNP for $17.50, some SNPs Panels also available.

Also to get you foot in at FTDNA you can test there for 12 STRs or use code CGS30 for any order over $140 it will reduce the price by $30. Discount for the 37-marker Y-DNA test will drop the price from $169 to $139 and then Join https://www.familytreedna.com/public/J-M267/default.aspx?section=yresults at FTDNA and their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/JM267/, and get in touch with Victar Josef Mas, he is a J1 expert. Again at FTDNA they have a J1 SNPs Pack Penal below, but they may not let you to buy that unless you have atl east 12 STRs first,

Get 114 SNPs downstream of M267 for only $119!

Remove the guess work. Save money!
Test 114 SNPs downstream of M267.
114 total SNPs including M267.

You may belong to any subclad below P58, see here http://genogenea.com/J-M267/tree

paulgill,
I'm not really sure why you quoted me. I have to run as I have to be all domestic and finish making dinner for this evening so I can't read much into this right now. Is this link just for men to get their $1000 Genome test data set ? Was the original poster of this thread collecting data for this link?
